A slightly spicy potato dish with peas.

A slightly spicy potato dish with peas. Potato-peas Bhajee is an Indian dish prepared by the Happy Chief Cook.

Servings: 4.
Preparation time: 45 minutes.


3 to 4 tablespoons sunflower oil,
1 onion (thinly sliced)
1 teaspoon turmeric,
1 teaspoon cumin seeds,
0.25 teaspoon ginger powder
1 small green pepper (seeds removed and finely chopped)
500 g potatoes (peeled and diced),
250 grams fresh peas or thawed frozen peas,
fresh coriander (chopped).


Heat the sunflower oil in a wok.

Add the sliced onion and sauté that 5 to 7 minutes until they become brown but not crispy.
Keep stirring well.

Add the turmeric, cumin seeds, ginger and finely chopped green pepper.
Add finally the potatoes.
Bake this mixure 5 minutes and keep stirring gently.

Then stir the peas through.
Put the lid on the pan and leave it on low heat 15 to 20 minutes simmer until the potatoes are cooked but still retain their shape.

Sprinkle the chopped coriander to garnish and serve the dish immediately.
