This basic sauce can be used in many dishes, like casseroles or as a dip.
Use this taco sauce in main courses with meat, poultry or fish.
The sauce can also be used in tacos, tostadas and nachos, or as a dip for tortilla chips or raw vegetables.

Taco sauce, a Mexican dish prepared by the Happy Chief Cook.

The taco sauce is pretty spicy.

Preparation time: 18 to 25 minutes.
Amount: about 1 liter.


1 tablespoon sunflower oil,
1 onion,
1 green bell pepper,
1 green chilli,
0.5 teaspoon ground cumin,
0.5 teaspoon ground coriander,
1 small clove garlic,
1 can diced tomatoes in sauce (400 grams),
1 teaspoon paprika,
0.5 teaspoon salt,
1.5 to 2 teaspoons sugar,
pinch 4-season pepper.


Chop the onions finely.

Remove the seeds of the green bell pepper and cut it into small pieces.

Chop the clove of garlic finely.

Chop the green chilli finely.


Heat the sunflower oil in a pan on low heat.

Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper, and bake this until it is softened.

Add the green chilli, ground cumin, coriander and the garlic into the pan, and stir everything well.

Add the salt, paprika, sugar and diced tomatoes with the tomato sauce, stir well together and let it simmer for 1 minute.

Season to taste and serve it hot or cold.


Instead of green bell pepper, you can also use red or yellow bell pepper.

The taco sauce can be stored in the freezer for 3 months.
Pour the taco sauce at room temperature in plastic containers.
